In Her Shoes

Elyse Walker launches her own line of divine footwear.

Elyse Walker stands poised to make her mark on the L.A. shoe scene.

L.A.’s sartorial set has long made the drive to Pacific Palisades to indulge in the endless offerings at Elyse Walker’s eponymous boutique—little wonder given its namesake’s spot-on eye for both trendsetting and classic designer treasures. But, now, the shop owner is treading new territory with the launch of her own shoe label, giving the style-obsessed a whole new way to wear her wares. The endeavor is something of a natural fit.

“The business is in my blood,” explains Walker, one of L.A.’s most revered fashion plates. “My dad is a shoe wholesaler, and my mom was a retailer.” So ingrained are shoes in her DNA that Walker relies on her father to help her oversee the line. Produced in Spain, Brazil and Italy, the debut capsule collection of Elyse Walker Los Angeles features laser-cut, suede and studded espadrilles; fringe booties; rainbow-colored slingbacks and pointy-toed flats for up to $995 (look for a full range of footwear by December). Although years of listening to her customers helped motivate Walker to produce the collection (available at Elyse Walker, Neiman Marcus and a few other boutiques), she turns to the place that continues to embrace her for inspiration. “I think L.A. has a cool factor like no other city,” she says. “Angelenos don’t want the fuss, just the glam. This city is chic without trying, and I hope that vibe is reflected in my collection.” After all, Walker adds, “I hope by now I really know what women want.” Well, if the shoe fits. forwardbyelysewalker.‌com
