The newlyweds steal a sweet moment.

Sarah Orzechowski and Brendon Urie can find each other in the dark—and in fact, they did. The pair first met in a dark Detroit concert hall, where Brendon’s alternative rock band—Panic! at the Disco, which he fronts—was playing. After several chance encounters, Brendon took the plunge, introducing himself to Sarah, an esthetician from Detroit, only to learn that she was off the market.

But, she allows, “There was definitely something between us.” And because a true match can’t be kept apart, eight months later, a determined mutual friend flew Sarah, then single, to Florida for another concert. This time, the couple’s not-so-chance encounter took.
Three years proved the perfect match for the twosome; so one day, at 4am, precisely the time Sarah was seeing Brendon off for an Australian tour, he dropped to one knee and popped the question. “It was incredibly sweet and intimate,” she shares. “I definitely was not expecting that to happen—best surprise of my life.”

The couple took a year and a half to plan their big day—one that would honor the love they felt. Not only was their venue selection, Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, positively perfect, featuring a beautiful landscape with an endless ocean backdrop near the couple’s Santa Monica home, but also, according to Sarah, a place where “it is seriously impossible” to capture a bad photo. “Every inch of the location is perfection.”

So, too, was shopping for the perfect gown, which saw the budding bride fly her mom in to town to help with the hunt. “It was very important to me that she be there with me,” explains Sarah, who instantly identified a Vera Wang trumpet dress as the one. Walking out of the dressing room and seeing her mom and maid of honor in tears confirmed Sarah’s feelings. “It was that moment that everyone talks about, the one that you worry you’re not going to have, and then it happens,” she remembers.

She sought the same perfection in the other big-day details, assembling a long list of top-notch vendors to tailor everything, from vintage pieces to sprawling floral arrangements, into a truly bespoke experience. One of the bride’s favorite particulars was an antique dresser that Found Vintage Rentals transformed into a bar for the groom’s favorite whiskeys and beers.

Naturally, on the day of the couple’s wedding, every detail came together perfectly. “We were honestly speechless at how beautiful everything was,” recalls Sarah. In the presence of close friends and family, the two exchanged vows under floral garlands, overlooking the ocean, in a moment of pure romance.

As the sun set, guests settled in for the reception. Cafe-style lighting strewn overhead illuminated the delicate, vintage-style tablescapes set with lacy-white tablecloths and golden silverware. Arrangements made of Sarah’s favorite flowers covered the table and added to the romantic feel. Guests enjoyed a menu of rosemary chicken, beef tenderloin, truffle-oil mashed potatoes, Gouda mac and cheese, and grilled asparagus. But Sarah and Brendon’s vegan guests were not forgotten; the catering company, Eco Caters, created a signature dish free of meat and dairy just for them.

Following dinner, guests flooded the dance floor, thanks to the musically inclined couple’s hiring of Rick Singer, a DJ not known for performing at weddings. Still, says Sarah, “[He] was exactly what we were looking for. We didn’t want typical wedding music.” Instead, Mr. DJ played funk and ’90s pop tunes. But for the couple’s first dance, Brendon left nothing to chance. He whisked Sarah out to the middle of the floor and serenaded her with their favorite song, “Faithfully,” by Journey, as he held her close. “I was completely overwhelmed with excitement and emotion. I can’t even put words together to try to explain that moment,” Sarah says. “It looked like we had torn a page right out of a fairy tale.”

Here’s to happily ever after.
