Henna Aslam & Omar Durani

The reception, the third of four official events, was the biggest night of the four-day extravaganza.

Opulent decor added a festive touch on mehndi night.

The mehndi ritual involved skits, dancing and henna application on hands and feet.

Why We Love It
Henna and Omar had been friends for years, so it should not have been a surprise when he proposed, right? Wrong. A friend prepared a ruse to lure her to Celestial Park in Addison, where Omar had bedecked the gazebo with candles and a heart-shaped flower installation. Still unsuspecting, Henna turned around and spied Omar. The proposal on bended knee followed, and the road to the wedding began.

The Venue
The Fairmont Dallas provided the luxurious backdrop for the traditional Indian wedding spanning four days, coordinated by Events by Hala.

The Details
Henna, a pharmaceutical sales rep, and Omar, a physician, incorporated the vivid, elegant traditions of their heritage into the ceremony, including the actual ceremony on day one; a mehndi, or henna session, in which the bride was carried in a flower-curtained chair on day two; the formal reception given by the bride’s parents on day three;
and the groom’s side reception on the last day.
