Krista Burks & Justin McDaniel

September 19, 2015 | Ceremony & Reception: The Corinthian

Justin lovingly places a kiss upon Krista’s forehead as she glows in her beaded, mermaid-style Ysa Makino gown from Mia Bridal Couture.

Cocktail tables featured simple white arrangements and candles to complement the venue’s dramatic architecture and its brilliant shades of pink and purple uplighting.

The bride’s glamorous gown with lace overlay, glints in the afternoon sun, waiting for its debut down the aisle.

The couple worked with Invitation Solutions to create a thoughtful gratitude card for every guest’s place setting.

The couple’s towering 13-layer wedding cake by Ashley Manalansan of Create.Bake.Love., which was stacked with three different flavors—vanilla, lemon and white Kahlua—felt right at home amid the grand interior of The Corinthian.

THE COUPLE
After meeting the new old-fashioned way, Justin knew he wanted to swipe right for life with Krista, owner of popular fashion boutique KB Kasuals. The financial analyst for BP devised a clever Halloween proposal plan and suggested a pumpkin-carving duel. When he was taking forever to finish his jack-o-lantern, she went to check on him. To her surprise, not only was he down on one knee, but he had carved “Will you marry me?” into his pumpkin. He won the contest!

THE PARTY
For an elegant reception awash in the soft glow of lights, Krista and Justin chose The Corinthian. Its high ceilings didn’t detract from the couple’s 6-foot cake—stacked high with 13 layers. After a night of dancing and glow sticks, Krista and Justin departed in a shower of rose petals.

WHAT WE LEARNED
“Don’t worry about everything falling into place, and know that something will go wrong,” Krista says. “Focus on your fiancé(e) and the real reason for marriage.”

THE HONEYMOON
In a fun spin on wedding tradition, the newlyweds had no clue where their honeymoon would be until the rehearsal dinner! Krista’s brother and sister-in-law planned the whole getaway at Cayo Espanto, a private island in Belize. And get this: Leonardo DiCaprio was on the island too and may or may not have helped the newlyweds celebrate on the beach!
