College sweethearts celebrate their love with a traditional and elegant wedding in Lake Forest.
While Browsing through the Marquette University Class of 2011 Facebook page, Lake Forest native Lauren Havey’s profile caught Dan Tyler’s eye, so, naturally, he sent a friend request. Little did he know, that small action would lead to the love of his life. After chatting back and forth for months and finally meeting in person at the university’s incoming-freshmen orientation, the two instantly hit it off—and the rest is history.
While on a Vegas vacation together seven years later, the two prepared for a night out on the town. Prior to leaving, Dan asked if she had the appropriate jewelry on for the night—only to pull a stunning brilliant-cut solitaire ring from behind his back and pop the question.
A little over a year later at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, Lauren walked down the aisle to the sounds of a trumpet soloist in a gorgeous Sottero & Midgley gown, an extra-long Princess Diana-inspired veil and her late grandmother’s cherished Tiffany & Co. diamond earrings. After a special harp performance from Lauren’s relative and vows that inspired happy tears, the couple took their first strides as man and wife, exiting the church under a beautiful rose petal shower.
The celebration continued with an elegant reception at Exmoor Country Club, which had been decked out in a palette of blush pinks, light grays and whites, courtesy of Yanni Design Studio. Adding to the romantic aesthetic, their white wedding cake, which was layered with strawberry mousse and fresh strawberries, finished with vanilla buttercream frosting and also included their monogram and fresh flowers, sat atop a candlelit glass table with flower petals underneath—a beautiful detail Lauren planned.
While the bride and her planner, Megan Estrada, left no detail untouched, there is no question what Lauren will remember most: “Our vows were most important to me,” she says with a smile. “This was the moment we officially became husband and wife and certified our love and fidelity to each other.”
