Aspen
Aspen Magazine, a Modern Luxury publication, is looking for an experienced and dynamic managing editor/senior editor to work on its Aspen team. Working closely with the Editor in Chief, the ME will manage the day-to-day, nuts-and-bolts editorial operations. The multi-faceted position will focus mainly on the print edition of Aspen magazine, but the candidate will also contribute to ASPEN's digital platforms, websites, and social media. In this position, the ME works closely with the EIC in developing content, and is responsible for executing and meeting deadlines for the editorial lineup once approved by the EIC; experience managing work flow, from initial copy to final layouts, is required. The candidate must have a positive attitude, and possess strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, as well as excellent editing, fact checking, writing, and research skills. The candidate must be well-versed in AP/NYT style books. The market's number one media brand, Aspen Magazine's editorial content is smart, sophisticated, discerning; we capture the cultural currency of Aspen, as well as cover food and wine; skiing, biking, and other sports; fashion; shopping; home, design, and real estate; personalities; the environment; and more, all with an insider's Aspen angle. Modern Luxury’s DC magazine — a regional, lifestyle glossy covering style, design, dining, culture and travel — is looking for spring interns. The internship is a great way to earn bylines and training in a fast-paced environment covering a burgeoning city. We are seeking grad and undergrad students with great writing and reporting skills. Candidates must show a deep knowledge of the luxury lifestyle category OR of Washington, DC — both is a plus.
It’s a non-paid internship, but interns receive the title “editorial assistant.” Duties include researching calendar listings and front of book stories, fact-checking, attending events and writing for the magazine and online product. The office is looking for someone who can work 3-5 days/15-20 hours a week January-May.
