Mother’s Day is May 11, and what better way to recognize her than a memorable meal at one of Chicago’s top restos? Here are five Mother’s Day specials that caught our eye.

Japonais by Morimoto has been buzzing ever since its recent reopening, and it’s Mother’s Day omakase (tasting menu) dinner service is sure to be one of the hottest reservations in town. The six-course $95 menu includes white chocolate ravioli with crab salad (served with a glass of bubbles, natch), toro tartare with caviar and other delightful delicacies. 600 W. 2. Roka Akor
This trendy River North eatery is rolling out a special lunch just for Mom. During their earlier–than–usual hours of 12-4PM, expect top–notch sushi, steak and seafood with a complimentary glass of Champagne. In addition to its usual a la carte options, Roka Akor is also offering an $85 prix–fixe dinner. The four–course menu delivers a number of options, from tuna tataki with an apple mustard dressing and Wagyu beef and kimchi dumplings to Madagascan jumbo tiger prawns. Delish! 456 N. Driehaus Museum
Go back in time at Driehaus Museum’s popular annual Mother’s Day Victorian Tea Service from 10:30AM-2:30PM, when the stunning Gilded Age ballroom will be decorated to look like an enchanted garden. True to form, finger sandwiches, fine teas and delicious sweets are all on the menu. Guests can also attend a Julia Knight home decor trunk show filled with special promotions, and complimentary tours of the museum will be available at the end of each one-hour tea service. 4. Takito Kitchen
Take Mom on a culinary adventure at Wicker Park’s Takito Kitchen, where Executive Chef David Dworshak will be turning out specials like almond churros with vanilla cream, roasted strawberries and Mexican chocolate sauce ($8), as well as torta ahogada, a classic Mexican dish with cheesy eggs, pork belly and grilled asparagus doused in salsa ($13). Takito is also introducing a new menu just in time for Mother’s Day, which includes cobia ceviche ($10), Yucatan-style chicken tacos ($12-15) and seasonally inspired drinks. 2013 W. Chef Michael Kornick’s ode to fine dining is packing in the goodies for deserving moms: a complimentary Champagne toast, a sweet takeaway from pastry chef Lisa Bonjour and a gift bag boasting gift cards to hip boutique p.45, Michael & Michael Salon and a return trip to mk. Mom will be equally impressed with the inventive menu, especially the seared Maine diver scallops with spaghetti squash and hen of the woods mushrooms ($36) and housemade fettuccine with lamb ragout ($18). 868 N.
