A documentary photographer captures a vision of fog along the lakefront.

“Ordinarily, I like to get home as quickly as possible, but this was a rare day of good weather,” says documentary photographer and filmmaker Ronit Bezalel of what prompted her to interrupt her 15-mile bike commute and spend a few minutes on Oak Street Beach. “I took out my camera to snap a few shots of the mist when two guys walked through my frame. It was perfect. They were silhouetted against the buildings, and I knew it would make a good shot. They nodded and smiled, and I smiled back and snapped the photo as they passed. I like the mystery of the silhouette, the feelings it evokes. I hope this photo inspires people to take time out, stop rushing and enjoy life. It’s summer, and we’ve earned it!”
