Feel the Burn

With the Dailey Method introducing its new Dailey Cycle class at the Northbrook location, we are heading up to the North Shore and are ready to seriously sweat it out. In case you can’t score a seat at this coveted workout class, here are some of our favorites in the area that will leave you feeling great and keep you in prime bathing suit shape.

The Dailey Method

1. Dailey Cycle
Now exclusively at the Dailey Method’s Northbrook studio, the new Dailey Cycle class is a stadium-style cycling class featuring top-of-the-line Schwinn AC Performance bikes. Not ready to try your hand at spinning? Check out one of the studio’s traditional Dailey Method classes, which incorporate barre exercises and core conditioning to build long, lean and seriously strong muscles. thedaileymethod.com

2. Shred415
This studio, which has locations in Lincoln Park, Old Town and Northfield, doles out high-intensity interval training that quickly burns fat and calories. Each hour-long, full-body workout alternates between weight training and cardio, meaning you’ll never be bored. It might sound intense, but Shred415 welcomes exercisers of all abilities. shred415.com

3. Pure Barre
The ballet barre fitness craze continues, thanks to the opening of Pure Barre’s newest location, opening in Evanston next month. Low-impact, high-intensity isometric movements help sculpt a lean and limber physique—no dance experience required!—and small class sizes mean you’ll get plenty of one-on-one time with your certified instructor. purebarre.com

4. Animal Flow
Drop your usual exercise routine and unleash your inner animal with Equinox’s new class, Animal Flow, which incorporates primal body movements that use your own body mass to strengthen and tone. Some of the exercises may look simple, but our arms and legs are still smarting! equinox.com

5. Bikram Yoga North Shore
This family-owned studio, which opened last fall, is still the North Shore’s top option for invigorating Bikram yoga. Each 90-minute class follows a series of 26 poses, all performed in a room heated to 105 degrees. But don’t let the heat scare you. Bikram’s emphasis on deep breathing will leave you feeling energized and focused. bikramnorthshore.com
