THE PARTY Pep La—meaning “the people” in Haitian Creole—was just one of the categories used to judge a cadre of graphic designers’ creations for a community-inspired fashion show promoting the ongoing work of Roots of Development in Haiti. THE PEOPLE The night’s emcees, NBC Washington anchor Wendy Rieger and DJ Collins, were joined by 150 guests, including several Haitian dignitaries. BEST IN SHOW Moments prior to the event, the organization was informed that the fundraising nonprofit One Day’s Wages would match funds raised that evening for Haitian Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
