Nearly 500 fine-arts aficionados filed in to the Wortham Center for a black-tie bash benefiting the Houston Ballet. Chaired by Shawn Stephens, this year’s Ballet Ball was themed La Mille et Deuxieme Nuit, or The Thousand and Second Night, a nod to the opulence witnessed in the Ballet’s new production of Aladdin.
Jewel-toned ball gowns matched the over-the-top and regal decor, provided by The Events Company and Limb Design. After the 500-some guests mingled over cocktails—some posted up at the Turkish coffee bar with a friendly live monkey named Abu—City Kitchen catered a multicourse meal.
The evening honored Houston Methodist hospital, along with Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch, who this year celebrates a decade with the troupe. And given the crowd, it’s not surprising that the dance floor was the place to be after dinner!
