A fash bash at the House of Blues toasted the beloved Little Black Dress, as 10 takes on the sartorial staple—new creations by fashion design students—took to the runway.
Designers competed for a portion of a $30,000 scholarship fund during the fifth annual Little Black Dress project, founded by Jeff Shell of the Neal Hamil modeling agency and sponsored by Momentum Audi.
At a VIP pre-party, guests mingled with the judges, including designer sisters Sarah and Saba Jawda and Sydney Dao of Dao Chloe Dao. Afterward, fashion fans were ushered into the adjoining hall for the main show.
Contestants sent their frocks—leather, feathers and more—down the catwalk, and event chairs Shannon Hall and Judy Nyquist announced the winners. HCC design student Julio Sanchez took the top prize for his black shift with an intricately detailed front panel and exposed zipper in the back.
