A complimentary lagniappe will greet each diner as they are entertained by live jazz. The special menu prepared by exec-chef Danny Trace includes strawberry salad, Texas Wild Shrimp Remoulade and Creole-mustard lamb chops.

Surrounded by lush greenery, secluded Brenner’s on the Bayou (1 Birdsall St., 713.868.4444) is calming and romantic. The Valentine’s Day dinner menu is just as lovely. Think escargot en croute, sautéed artichoke and fava bean salad, lobster lasagna, and grilled quail with Jack Daniel’s bacon-barbecue glaze.

On the special four-course menu at Monarch Bistro (501 Main St., in Hotel ZaZa, 713.527.1800), start with rosé-Champagne gel with caviar and cream, followed by seafood gratin, zucchini ravioli stuffed with black truffle ricotta, and veal short rib. Raspberry-chocolate-mousse torte is the crowning glory!

Cozy French café Sale Sucre (2916 White Oak Dr., 713.623.1406) celebrates Single’s Appreciation Day February 13. Come as you are during happy hour (5-7:30pm) for complimentary hors d’oeuvres and live music. If you find your match and stay for dinner, dessert is free!
