Infiniti & Beyond

Infiniti changes the game with the 2014 Q50.

If there’s one thing Atlantans love to complain about, it’s traffic. We love our cars, but loathe sitting idle during rush hour. Infiniti’s new 2014 Q50 sports sedan is determined to take the pain out of your commute with a host of high-tech extras. Making the list is Active Lane Control, which uses a camera mounted behind the rearview mirror to scan for lane markers. Once ALC detects the lanes, it communicates with an advanced steering system to keep the car in the center of the lines, even when the road takes a slight curve. When combined with Infiniti’s Intelligent Cruise Control, you can literally sit back and relax while the car handles the steering, accelerating and braking for you: sweet! When the stop-and-go drudgery turns to open road, it’s time to rev up the Q50’s 328-horsepower V6 engine, which chirps the rear tires on its 5.5-second run from 0 to 60. Inside, the Q50 continues its high-tech theme with not one, but two, touch screens, plus an Active Noise Control system that works like noise-canceling headphones to keep the cabin quiet. Yes, the day when cars drive themselves has finally arrived, with the introduction of the 2014 Infiniti Q50, hitting Atlanta dealers this month. @infinitiusa
