The Editors | Photo: Heidi Geldhauser | February 4, 2014
From five-star favorites to delicious little dives, we found so many must-try tastes around A-Town this year, we had to bump this list from 101 to 111! But, hey, we don’t think you’ll mind the extra apps, entrees, drinks and desserts rounding out our ultimate cravings wish list. Plus, we asked a few of our favorite chefs to divulge their guilty pleasures, giving you an insider’s look at where the experts head after hours. So whether you’re craving something sweet, salty or, ahem, boozy, feel free to bust out your stretchy pants and cleanse your palate with this feature that’s sure to please. Ready, set, nosh!
Skip the amusement park and head straight to Zocalo Mexican Kitchen & Cantina for the city’s best churros, dusted with cinnamon sugar and served with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping. Eat in or get them to go! $5, Midtown, @zocaloatlanta
Ah, we cherish when we can indulge without the guilt. Head to Kyma and dig in to their quinoa meze featuring toasted pine nuts, tomato, scallions, olive oil and lemon. $7, Buckhead, @kymarestaurant
Maine Lobster Roll
If loving lobster is wrong, we don’t want to be right. Article 14 perfects this dish by dousing their freshly picked meat with lemon aioli and adding celery for extra crunch. $18, Midtown, @article14atl
Scallops St. Jacques
We’ll take one of everything on Bistro Niko’s fabulous French menu. But when it comes to the sauteed sea scallops with asparagus, white wine nage and pomme puree, make that two orders. Ooh La La! $23, Buckhead, @bistroniko
There’s a reason this appetizer is under Food to Fight Over on Del Frisco’s Grille’s menu. The warm gooey cheesesteak wrapped up in a crispy eggroll is perfectly complemented by sweet-and-spicy chilli sauce and honey mustard. Just trust us. $12, Buckhead, @dfgrilleatlanta
Turkey, Cheddar, Arugula and Raspberry Jam Panini
While superwoman Jenny Levison is constantly changing up the menu at Cafe Jonah and the Magical Attic, seize the chance to try their turkey, cheddar, arugula and raspberry jam panini. The sweet homemade jam makes this sammie a must-have. $7, Buckhead, @souperjenny
The warm crunchy outside and light fluffy inside of these bite-size pieces of comfort from The Big Ketch Saltwater Grill could easily take the place of dinner, especially when dipped in remoulade with a hint of spiciness. Dig in! From $3, Buckhead, @thebigketch
We’re bursting with excitement about the recent opening of Sprinkles Cupcakes at Lenox Square. Our go-to? This decadent sundae featuring red velvet ice cream crowned with a red velvet cupcake. In the words of Rachel Zoe, we die. $7, Buckhead,
It’s no secret that every breakfast bite at Highland Bakery is out-of-this-world, but we’re especially sweet on these light and fluffy pancakes covered in warm blueberry compote. $8, various locations, @highlandbakery1
For the snackie, you can’t go wrong with Empire State South’s fun appetizer featuring deviled ham, trout mousse, pickles, boiled peanut hummus, pimento cheese and bacon marmalade served in Mason jars with a side of warm, toasted bread. Yum! $21, Midtown, @essouth
