One Woman Army

When 25-year-old Buckhead resident Shantel Khleif started Operation White Christmas in Chicago in 2010, she had no idea her good heart would lead to affecting hundreds of families in the Midwest and South.

It’s impossible to walk the streets of Chicago and not see a homeless person or family on every corner. … Something pulls at your heart, and I found it difficult to just keep walking,” she recalls. In its first year, the charity, now rebranded Operation Celebration, allowed Khleif to feed 60 families. Now, since making the move down South last year, the Florida State University alum is gearing up for the nonprofit’s biggest donation yet—gift baskets full of food and toys for 500 families. While this young entrepreneur is making waves during the holidays, Operation Celebration also helped kids get back to school with new backpacks and school supplies this past summer through Operation Back to School. “Atlanta is especially known today as the city ‘not too busy to care.’ Thanks in large part to this city, Operation Celebration has experienced tremendous success in its short time here,” Khleif explains. While the social butterfly is busier than ever bringing smiles to families throughout A-Town, by day she runs her own social media management company, Imagine Media Consulting, where she amps up the online presence of local small businesses through the virtual world’s heavy hitters—Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. But on weekends, this supergirl moonlights as a mere mortal, dining at Varasano’s Pizzeria or unwinding with the girls at The IVY Buckhead.  @opercelebration
