With sponsorship by Braman Motors this year, MOCA’s annual roving dinner parties, Mystery Dates, was a runaway success in its seventh year as more than 275 guests broke bread at the homes or art spaces of 10 of the city’s most social art collectors.
Artists, art-lovers and art patrons made up the guest lists at the 10 different dinners that were organized for the event. This year’s hosts included Mary and Raul Guijarro de Pablo, Lorena and Evelio Gomez, Jessica and Elliot Dornbusch, Daniel and Marcella Novela, Gloria and Sergio Leyva, Alana Burstyn, George Sanchez Calderon, Adriana Pinehero and Michael Stein, Lizzie Dascal, and Dan and Kathryn Mikesell.
After a cocktail party with a silent auction at MOCA, where they enjoyed a performance by Australian musician Owen Campbell, guests set off to their respective dinner locations. As usual, this year’s hosts all added personal touches to make the evening special. At the Gomez home, attendees were treated to a surprise performance by the Spam Allstars band, while at the Guijarro de Pablo residence, the guests were cleverly matched with artworks in the hosts’ art collection. After dinner, many attendees met at SET lounge in South Beach for a late end to a most artistic evening. –Photography by Manny Hernandez and Gesi Schilling
