There was plenty of flash at this year’s Funkshion Fashion Week in Miami Beach.

The yearly presentation celebrated its 25th anniversary with four nights of runway struts, featuring collections by designers of local and national provenance. But it was the event’s Red Dress Fashion Show, presented by The American Heart Association, that drew the most attention. Dozens of society ladies and TV personalities—among them Candela Ferro, Karent Sierra
and Alexandra Olevarria—took the catwalk in gowns of scarlet, crimson and ruby shades, in a fiery display of style, all in the name of health awareness. “It’s a way of bringing attention to heart health issues, which are so important,” said CBS-4 entertainment reporter Lisa Petrillo, one of the evening’s participants.
“A moment of glamour for a rather important cause.”
