The 19th annual Kona Brewers Festival indulges craft beer aficionados on Hawaii's Big Island Saturday, March 8, 2014, tapping up 70 types of ales and lagers served alongside a cornucopia of island-style cuisine from 35 Hawaii chefs. The sell-out event, presented by Alaska Airlines, Islandwide Solar, First Hawaiian Bank and Keauhou Veterinary Hospital, features craft beer, gourmet food, live music and entertainment outdoors at the Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel luau grounds in Kailua-Kona from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Kona Brewers Festival is the headline event of a multi-day celebration that includes a Home Brew Competition, a Brewers Pa'ina, beer and food pairing dinner at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay on Thursday, March 6; a Suds & Sea cruise on the Hula Kai on Friday, March 7 and the Run for Hops race Saturday morning, March 8.
The Kona Brewers Festival is a community fundraising event made possible by the Bill Healy Foundation. This premier event promotes the craft brewery revolution in Hawaii and encourages professional brewers and chefs to work together. BrewFest raises funds for environmental, educational and cultural non-profit groups. Over the past 18 years, $650,000 has been donated to Big Island charitable organizations.
