Bridal Sign Up

Happily Ever After

A winter wonderland designed for more than 500 guests at Brook Hollow Golf Club was where Meredith Falke and Mark Plunkett celebrated their love of a lifetime.

The bride wore a timeless off-the-shoulder lace gown from Carolina Herrera and the groom donned a Tom Ford tuxedo.

A lock plays a key role in Meredith Falke and Mark Plunkett’s romantic saga. Early in their relationship, Mark was traveling through Paris when he came across the Pont des Arts, a bridge over the Seine, where smitten admirers had been attaching padlocks engraved with their sweetheart’s initials for eons. Before he left, “Plunkett loves Falke” was added. When the time came, Mark led Meredith to the site, took a knee and asked her to marry him. (It turned out to be just in time; two days later, the lovelocks were removed over concerns that all the weight was straining
the structure.)

Meredith, marketing director of a law firm, and Mark, who works in investments, began planning a wedding for more than 500 in Dallas. Both attended Southern Methodist University. Mark went on to get an MBA from Harvard University and received a Fulbright Scholarship to Mexico. Needless to say, the wedding would be grand. “Mark is very social,” said Meredith, smiling. “Once he makes a friend, he keeps
in touch.”

The rehearsal dinner before their February 27, 2016, wedding was held at the Gems and Minerals Hall of the Perot Museum of Science and Natural History, where Mark has been a board member. The Texas Boys Choir performed at the ceremony the next day at Highland Park Methodist Church, in a candlelight service, as Meredith’s parents had nearly 40 years before. Mark’s parents, who have passed, were remembered with candles on the altar and a monogrammed cushion in their place on the front pew.

The firelight theme continued with an elegant reception at Brook Hollow Golf Club, with candles sparkling in a color scheme of white, gold, silver and blue. Along with dinner, guests were treated to Mrs. P.’s Champagne Bubble Bar; MBP’s Tasting Room, featuring Texas beers, blackberry moonshine cocktails, cigars and bacon; and a surprise appearance of SMU’s mascot, Peruna, along with dancing to the Pure Party Band from Atlanta. After, Meredith and Mark departed for a honeymoon trip to France, of course, to revisit the Ponts des Arts.
