Hailing from New Jersey and sharing a fairy-tale love story, Jennifer Molinaro and Craig Whitman have known each other since high school. Knowing the love of his life also has a strong love affair with wine, Craig planned an afternoon date to their favorite local wine bar. Jennifer took a sip and turned to see their 7-week-old puppy, Harley, saunter out of the back room with a sign that said, “Will you marry my daddy?” Overcome with joy, the bride-to-be quickly said yes and set out to plan her dream destination wedding in the Florida Keys.
One hundred of the couple’s closest family members and friends came down to Florida from New Jersey to celebrate Jennifer and Craig’s beachfront nuptials at Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada. An extra-special moment for the bride, Jennifer’s 93-year-old grandfather, who hadn’t been on an airplane since the 1970s, flew to Florida for the momentous occasion. Jennifer tied the knot with Craig on a gorgeous February day with the aqua blue water providing a picturesque backdrop. “Everything was perfect, from the weather to the location!” Jennifer remembers. “I loved how the white canopy swung in the wind on the beach.” Guests danced with personalized maracas to beats by a local DJ with Kiss Me Entertainment, and the couple enjoyed a starry sparkler send-off at the end of the evening.
WHAT WE LEARNED
“It was a dream come true to get married in the Florida Keys,” says Jennifer, adding that everything about her wedding turned out perfectly. “I’d highly recommend finding a great hotel that can take care of the planning details for you so you can enjoy the big day.”
Making the most of their time in the Florida Keys, the couple made the short jaunt from Islamorada down to Key West to soak up some rest and relaxation in the southernmost city.
