The Orange Coast Chapter of the Harley Owners Group (OCHOG) is now recruiting riders for the Injured Warrior Appreciation Run, a unique group ride to U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton that raises funds for Warrior Foundation~Freedom Station. Since 2004, the non-profit Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station has provided critical assistance to military men and women who have been injured in Afghanistan and Iraq. From transitional housing and quality-of-life items to numerous support services, the non-profit organization provides a hand up to warriors and their families during recovery. These military heroes are now recovering at Southern California military medical centers such as Naval Medical Center San Diego, Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital and 29 Palms. .
The Injured Warrior Appreciation Ride will depart from Orange County Harley-Davidson at 9:30 a.m. en route to Camp Pendleton. The ride will be specially escorted by Fueled by the Fallen, a nonprofit group that has created Memorial Race Cars inscribed with the names of fallen service members.
The ride will make its way down the 5 freeway to Camp Pendleton and be met by a military color guard. Riders will have a unique opportunity to travel through 24 miles of Camp Pendleton’s beautiful backcountry before having have lunch courtesy of Baby Roo’s BBQ and visiting with the injured warriors. A special ceremony honoring the brave men and women who have served for our country will conclude the event.
Rider registration is now open online at through October 31. Tickets include lunch, a commemorative pin (for the first 500 riders) and an Injured Warrior Appreciation Run t-shirt. All proceeds donated to Warrior Foundation-Freedom Station are tax-deductible. Ride-day registration will also be available.
