Orange County’s foodies are buzzing about the new spring menus at the region’s top restaurants. Here’s a list of our favorite places and plates.
Balboa Bay Resort has freshened up its dining offerings, and the result is a sophisticated oceanfront experience. Nautical touches—navy blue and bone colorings, and furniture with espresso finishes—meet a seafood-focused menu from Executive Chef Vincent Lesage. From the lobster roll to the squid tagliatelle, it all tastes of the shore.
2. Fig & Olive
Oh, olive oil—it’s the core ingredient for the lauded restaurant’s menu of elevated dishes, which are inspired by the flavors of the French Riviera. The spring menu is loaded with deliciousness—zucchini blossom and goat cheese ravioli, and a salmon tartine are among the nibbles.
3. Lark Creek Newport Beach
Foodies are flocking in to try chef and partner John Ledbetter’s seasonal, farm-fresh and Cali-cool cuisine. His barbecue chicken-tamale pancake will make your taste buds sing. Grab your friends and nab a seat at the bar or on the alfresco patio, and take advantage of the $1 oysters and beer special, which begins at 3PM daily.
4. Red O Restaurant
Rick Bayless’ gorgeous Mexican restaurant is enticing gourmands with its exquisite cuisine—Sonoma duck taquitos, sweet plantain sopes and the lobster jicama tacos are already feisty faves.
5. The Deck
We come here when we want to make the most of the coast. The eatery’s light, beach-inspired menu keeps things fresh with seared yellowfin ahi tuna or pan-roasted Alaskan halibut. Coupled with the flirty cocktail choices—try the Silver Surfer—and the waterfront view, you’re in for a true Laguna experience.
