The Hit List: Steppin’ Out!

O.C. says hello to the beautiful and supercool Alex Owens when Flashdance takes over Segerstrom Center (scfta.org) May 7-19. It’s a long way from the urban sprawl of Pittsburgh, but we’ve got plenty of ideas to keep her occupied. Here’s our top-five list of places to hit.

Flashdance

1. Tight Assets
A girl like Alex likes to be on trend, and few places would appeal to a dancer the same way that Tight Assets would. She’ll find the hottest new workout wear, which comes as no surprise—owner Heidi Miller’s a former gymnast and bodybuilder, and we see her dancing onstage every year in the CHOC Follies. 180 S. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, 949.497.0005

2. 118 Degrees
The body needs fuel, and we know dancers must watch what goes into that machine. We suggest Alex pay a visit to Jenny Ross’ 118 Degrees. It’s our favorite outpost for delicious raw food entrées. (Portobello tacos, please!) 2981 Bristol St., Costa Mesa; 185 W. Center St. Promenade, Anaheim; 32371 Golden Lantern, Laguna Niguel; 118degrees.com

3. Stark Training
For a real workout, there’s no better place than Stark Training, where O.C.’s top athletes and execs go for personalized workouts and nutrition management. Head honcho Todd Van de Hei will have her working at full throttle. 17524 Von Karman Ave., Irvine, starktraining.com

4. The Ranch Restaurant & Saloon
If she’s in the mood to kick up her heels offstage, The Ranch Restaurant & Saloon is the place. She can chow down on a juicy steak (protein’s good for the muscles, after all), then work off those calories with a little Western dancing. 1025 E. Ball Road, Anaheim, theranch.com

5. Honda Center
And to really cut loose, we say head to Honda Center, where The Rolling Stones are set to wow avid fans on May 15 and 18, and Fleetwood Mac rocks the house on May 28. 2695 E. Katella Ave., Anaheim, hondacenter.com
