The urban planner lets us in on her favorite local haunts

"San Diego is so globally known for our lifestyle and beauty, but the hidden gem that we are becoming better known for is our tremendous economy and the strength of our innovation,” explains Stacey Pennington, the talented urban planner who, alongside L2HP, is responsible for establishing Makers Quarter as S.D.’s hottest up-and-coming neighborhood. “You can’t play ball without having a powerful urban center,” she says. Here, the Rancho Santa Fe resident shares her favorite spots in a town that allow her to “dream big, but still be an individual.”

R&R “Rancho Valencia (Rancho Santa Fe, 858.756.1123) is gorgeous—the beautiful spa and pool are a total indulgence.”

RUN ON “I am not a gym or class gal, but I love running in the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve (La Jolla).”

Starlite

GRAB A DRINK “Starlite (Middletown, 619.358.9766) is classic to San Diego. My husband and I have been going there for years. We love the cocktails, vibe and location.”

PLAY DATE “I love being with my kids, Beau and Cole, and their favorite park is Waterfront Park (Little Italy).”

Ponsaty’s

GO TO DINNER “My family loves Ponsaty’s (Rancho Santa Fe, 858.771.1871). The menu and atmosphere hit the spot for a fun night out.”

HEAD TO BRUNCH “Claire’s On Cedros (Solana Beach, 858.259.8597) is the cutest little beach cottage with a gorgeous garden atmosphere and an amazing brunch.”
