This Dude Is So Disappointed in San Francisco Right Now

As the city moves to regulate e-cigarettes and vaporizers.
The city of San Francisco doesn't want you to take back your freedom. It also doesn't want you killing yourself and people around you with tobacco. So you know, it's a matter of trade offs.
Yesterday, the Board of Supervisors voted to extend the city's existing no-smoking laws to include vaporizers and e-cigarettes. That means that users will be subject to the same restrictions as those puffing away on regular cigarettes. Those include bans in most public places and many indoor spots, including bars. It's basically the curb or nowhere. Pharmacies will also no longer be permitted to sell the products, and other retailers will have to receive special permits before stocking them.
Unlike the proposal to ban Happy Meals, another target of progressive Supervisor Eric Mar, which drew nation-wide scoffing, the e-cig restrictions seem to be less controversial, passing on a unanimous vote.
That's not to say that there isn't any opposition. According to the Chron, an industry trade group claimed that the Supervisors were acting like Google Bus blockaders, arguing, "It's not a tobacco product, it's a technology product." (We'd love to see that argument extended to other laws: It's not an assault rifle—it's a technology product.)
More surprisingly, the regulations drew opposition from medical marijuana groups like NORML, which claimed that the regulations could hurt medical cannabis smokers who use vaporizers.
The proposed law will go back to the Board for a final vote next week, and then to the mayor, who is expected to be in support it.
In other news, the regulations mean that electronic cigarettes and Happy Meals have in another thing in common, besides being a cheap but effective way to get your brats to stop crying for just one goddamn minute.
