Great Music Ahead: Buy These Tickets Now

Beirut, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, and The Head and the Heart: On sale now.

 1.) Beirut at the Fox
Albuquerque’s musical prodigy Zach Condon has a style that mixes Balkans gypsy music with indie pop. Now, imagine combining the hypnotic percussion, haunting vocals, and understated ukulele chords reverberating off the iconic walls of the Fox. It will hard to miss. Monday, 9/3, $35 The Fox Theater, 1807 Telegraph Ave., Oakland

2.) Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros at the Greek
With the weather warming up, concerts at the Greek are much easier to endure, and with so many bodies on stage and in the audience, you’ll find a way to keep warm. In the meantime, enjoy the melding of the many voices, instruments, music and storytelling while the fog rolls in overhead. Friday, 9/7, $35, The Greek Theatre, 2001 Gayle Road, Berkeley

3.) The Head and the Heart at Fernwood
The Seattle group is always a favorite, and yes, you can see them for free at Hardly Strictly, but what would beat an imitate session out in the redwoods followed by a night of camping? Dissonant vocals, the pounding piano, and of course, Charity Rose Thelin’s quick fiddle will be uninterrupted by the city’s cacophony so you can enjoy it the way it was was intended to be. 10/8, $55 Fernwood Campgrounds, Big Sur
