Channel your inner pirate or go cheese tasting in honor of Dad this weekend.
For the Street Fair Lover…
With street fair season in full swing, take dad to the 59th annual North Beach Festival where you can explore historic Little Italy, sip on a few cold ones at one of the various beverage gardens, and listen to live music. And most importantly, there’s a wide selection of food booths that will be serving classic fair food like kebabs, BBQ chicken, and funnel cake. June 15 and June 16 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
For the Swashbuckler…
Don your Jack Sparrow costume and set sail for Vallejo where pirates will bombard the 7th annual Northern California Pirate Festival. At the festival, wander pirate encampments, try a custom made corset, and witness a ship to shore cannon battle. The festival includes fresh food including fish and chips, gyros, and new this year, a rum bar. Saturday, June 15th and Sunday, June 16th. Tickets are $10.
On your way home from the pirate festival, grab a kite and stop by Cesar Chavez Park in the Berkeley Marina for Father’s Day Kite Day. Colorful octopus kites of all sizes will fill the sky at this annual event put on by HighlineKites. It’s summer in San Francisco and that means perfect kite flying weather! 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
For the Sophisticated Dad...
This Saturday, ditch the glass of vino because the Cheese School of San Francisco will be hosting a special cheese and beer event. Dads can sample five different craft beers and eight artisan cheeses with former CIA Greystone instructor Andy Wild. Not only will your stomachs be satisfied, but you will also leave a cheese connoisseur. Return on Sunday for a cheese and charcuterie class. Saturday June 15th from 4pm to 6pm. $69.
Celebrate Dad by sporting a matching father-son haircut courtesy of Baxter of California. The custom shop will be offering fresh cuts for summer at Unionmade this weekend. Not only will Dad leave with a new look, but also a complimentary travel kit with purchase to keep him looking sharp. Saturday, June 15th from 11 am to 7 pm.
