In an event circuit typically marked by dainty hors d'oeuvres and thinly veiled networking, last night's Curiosity Shoppe for Target party was a refreshing change of pace. The launch was held at Stable Cafe in the Mission, where the collection was scattered around the succulent-decked garden, outfitted with picnic tables, heat lamps, a photo booth, and a three-piece band. (Rather than crustless tea sandwiches and macarons, attendees tucked into pork sliders, lobster rolls, mini pies, and s'mores.)

It was a low-key, creative crowd, including The Curiosity Shoppe owners Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom, Makeshift Society founder Rena Tom, SF Girl by Bay design guru Victoria Smith, illustrator Lisa Congdon, and Apartment34 blogger Erin Hiemstra. The collection is packed with giftable under-$30 wares, from road-trip inspired dishes, cutting boards, and pouches to piggy banks, toys, and pillows. It hits shelves at Target on September 9th—for six weeks only—so I'll be stocking up on the printed gift boxes and tags before the holiday rush. Click ahead to see product shots and prices.
