With Atlanta quickly becoming the next Hollywood, or Yallywood as the South calls it, Atlantans should schedule their next impromptu date night at their local theater to enjoy some of these can’t-miss Atlanta-based films.

Atlantans with an affinity for thrillers and political corruption should look out for Mark Wahlberg around the Atlanta area as he films his new film Mile 22, a fast paced film about a CIA field officer and an Indonesian police officer forced to work together.

Since La La Land’s huge success, it’s no strong order that another musical would be in the works. Starring Jennifer Aniston, and based on the novel by Julie Murphy, Dumplin’ will tug at Atlantans’ heartstrings during the comedic drama about a young girl nicknamed “Dumplin’” vying for the attention of her crush.

The sequel to the 2015 hit movie Ant Man is in the works and should prove to be another hit installment in the Marvel Studios lineup. Starring Paul Rudd, Michelle Pfeiffer and several other top tier actors, keep an eye out for the release of Ant Man and the Wasp coming in July.

For Atlantans who find thrills in action and horror, Venom, a Spider-Man spinoff, is shaping up to be a superhero-centric feature that those who are science fiction-inclined won’t want to miss. Starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, the film’s October release date will be just in time for the Halloween season.
