Brianna & Steven

Filled with personal touches aplenty, a sun-drenched wine country wedding radiates with love.

Before the ceremony, the groom told the bride that she looked like “Belle from Beauty and the Beast.”

With a relationship that’s spanned from Dallas to the Bay Area, it’s no surprise that Brianna Brackett and Steven Romanoff’s relationship experienced some bumps en route to the altar—but, the journey was worth it in the end.

The couple first crossed paths in January 2007 in a Dallas bar. Brianna was finishing her undergraduate work at Southern Methodist University, and Steven was selling medical equipment. Immediately sensing a connection, the two became fast friends, and a weekend boating trip with Brianna’s close-knit family revealed that the relationship was becoming more. “When we got back to Dallas,” she says, “our friendship turned into a crush, and slowly but surely, we fell in love.”

In February 2008, Steven moved to Arizona for work, and shortly thereafter, Brianna moved home to the Bay Area to work at her father’s financial services firm, where she is still marketing director. After a few months dating long-distance, they decided to spend some time apart. Luckily, they never lost hope, and Steven’s career landed him a promotion that brought him to the Bay Area in November 2008. After falling back in love, Steven proposed on Jan. 22, 2012.

Fast-forward to their wedding day, June 8, 2013, which also came with a few hiccups. Brianna explains, “Besides being a record-breaking 105 degrees, the limo bus we hired to drive my family to the ceremony broke down on the way to pick us up! It turned out that my dad drove me to the ceremony in our family Suburban with my mom and sister. I loved that moment.”

After an emotional first look, the bride and groom got down to business at the gorgeous outdoor ceremony at Asti Winery. “The ceremony was so beautiful,” Brianna recalls. “I can still hear Steve saying his vows that he wrote for me.” The couple invited their parents to pray over their rings during a blessing, and guests, meanwhile, kept cool with white parasols and cucumber-infused drinks.
Peppered with lush, colorful flowers—English garden roses, ranunculus and peonies, to name a few—the rustic-glam reception was filled with custom touches and lots of fun. The couple expressed their gratitude with details like vintage airmail place cards adorned with handwritten notes. “We wanted each person present to know how much we appreciated them being there, and how they’ve impacted our lives,” says Brianna. The cards also explained the nontraditional favor: a cow the couple purchased and donated to a remote village in Bali, to be used in the village’s rice farms.

Among the all-night dancing, heartfelt speeches and a tunnel of sparklers lining the couple’s route to their getaway car, a vintage Rolls-Royce, the most poignant moment may have been the couple’s first dance to Jason Mraz’s “Won’t Give Up.”

“The entire journey to becoming husband and wife, we never gave up on each other or our love,” explains Brianna. What an incredible, worthwhile ride.
