Justine Berry & Jesse Kupferman

September 3, 2011 | North Pond

Despite scattered showers, Jesse and Justine were all smiles. The bride wore a Pronovias gown and a necklace made of Thai scarab carapaces.

For their escort cards, the couple, who now reside in Brooklyn, photographed toy dinosaurs at various locations across New York City.

In a nod to the bride’s vocation, Asrai Garden topped tables with red river myrtle and poppy pods in Erlenmeyer flasks and beakers.

The chocolate ganache cake with hazelnut filling from the Swedish Bakery was appointed with peach peonies from Asrai Garden in Bucktown.

WHY WE LOVE IT Jesse (an English teacher) proposed to Justine (a neurobiologist) under the T. Rex skeleton at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. (Second to Jesse, the dino is Justine’s greatest love.) The “sci-curious” couple had fun incorporating their careers—and passions—into the big day.

THE VENUE The now New Yorkers selected North Pond restaurant in Lincoln Park for its natural setting—and chef Bruce Sherman’s cuisine.

THE DETAILS Green Mill staple Sabertooth Organ Quartet played doo-wop and jazz, including Otis Redding’s “That’s How Strong My Love Is” for the first dance.
