Putting a personal touch on their wedding, the couple designed their own rings and elegant, understated invitations.

In a Houston real estate twist on a romantic meeting, Catherine met Brad when her company bought a property from his company. “We knew very quickly that we wanted to be together forever,” Catherine reminisces. Brad designed a custom ring in secret; however, he is admittedly bad at keeping secrets, so it didn’t have time to burn a hole in his pocket. As soon as the ring was completed, Brad proposed.

Playing into their Halloween weekend wedding, Catherine and Brad hosted a costume party instead of a rehearsal dinner. “Out of the 60 guests who attended, not one single guest showed up without a costume,” Catherine says. The Inn at Dos Brisas was the backdrop for an intimate and elegant outdoor ceremony and reception for 75 guests. Lace, lush greens, matte golds, sunset colors and a few festive Halloween cookie treats created warm ambiance beneath a grand tent on the idyllic property.

“The longer you’re engaged, the longer it takes to plan your wedding. We didn’t stress about the little things because we didn’t have time,” Catherine says of their three-month engagement. “Also, for brides: Listen to your fiancé when he gives input; it’s his special day too!”

Catherine and Brad jetted to the sunkissed shores of Maui, the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands, and stayed at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.
