Bridal Sign Up

Kelsey Willaman & Jason Emmett

January 16, 2016 | Ceremony & Reception: The Breakers, Palm Beach

Kelsey wore a custom-designed gown and veil made by family friend Trish McEvoy using hand-sewn lace from Paris, and Jason wore a tux by Brooks Brothers.

Grand reception tables featured towering cream-and-white toned centerpieces, creating a luxurious layered look inside the ballroom at The Breakers.

The Breakers’ wedding team sprinkled touches of Old Florida throughout the wedding and reception, including a six-tier Key lime wedding cake adorned with hundreds of gold-dusted edible flowers.

The bride wore sparkly peep-toe heels by Jimmy Choo and accessories by Tiffany & Co.

As president of Duffy’s Sports Grill, Jason Emmett first met Kelsey Willaman while both worked there eight years ago, but fate had other plans. Years later, a chance encounter in Delray Beach brought them together, and sparks flew. Two adopted dogs and two years later, Jason took Kelsey to The Breakers, Palm Beach for an impromptu date night. While walking along the shore at sunset, he dropped to one knee and presented her a 2-carat emerald-cut diamond ring, a family heirloom from Jason’s father.

Palm Beach has always played a role in their lives, so Kelsey and Jason wanted to tie in the romance of the sea with the elegance of The Breakers. With crisp colors of cream, white and gold, and a pink-and-orange sunset ablaze as a backdrop, their oceanside ceremony and elegant reception were everything they’d wished for. A family affair, Jason’s uncle, Dr. Steven Emmett, officiated the wedding. At the reception, The Breakers’ design studio incorporated a gorgeous garden bouquet of cream- and white-toned roses with crystal centers. Kelsey and Jason said adding a photo booth provided a fun souvenir and a dash of whimsy, as guests kept one photo and a duplicate went into a book for the bride and groom.

“My mother-in-law, Geri, gave me the best advice, and she told me not to become wrapped up in the chaotic details—to just focus on the beauty of the day, our guests and Jason,” Kelsey remembers. “She also said to soak in as many moments as you can because it goes by fast.”

The happy couple went on the trip of a lifetime to French Polynesia. Their overwater bungalow at The St. Regis Bora Bora Resort offered romance and spectacular views. They also celebrated Kelsey’s birthday while there, and Jason surprised her with a private breakfast and a boat tour that included snorkeling the coral reefs and the chance to feed stingrays and sharks.
