Five of Chicago’s chicest women share what inspires their signature styles.

Kristen Kaza
As creative director of No Small Plans Productions, Kaza’s look is all about making a statement.

My fashion philosophy is... I don’t think style can be bought—I think it’s self-expression of one’s own continuous evolution.

The best style advice I ever received was... Iris Apfel saying “More is more and less is a bore.”My look is like a still-kicking grandma who is partying as if Studio 54 were still around.

When putting looks together for events, I think about... pockets! I need to have my phone with me at all times.

In Chicago, I shop at... Tusk. It’s as much of an apparel store as it is an art gallery. Sir & Madame is an exceptional husband-and-wife-owned business in Hyde Park. Asrai Garden has the most unique arrangement of flowers, jewelry and accessories. I will happily spend money on things when I know who made them.

I never leave the house without... lipstick. My mom would even mow the lawn in lipstick.
