The Illinois Holocaust Museum’s 2018 Humanitarian Awards Dinner was dedicated to learning from the past to create a brighter future.
THE PARTY Held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, 2,000-plus guests filled the Grand Ballroom to pay tribute to local Holocaust survivors and to hear guest of honor former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair. Vocal group Musicality kicked off the night with a stirring performance before dinner. THE PEOPLE Distinguished guests included Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner. The night included an informative discussion between Blair and NPR’s Bill Kurtis about issues of worldwide importance like Brexit, immigration and antisemitism. THE PINNACLE Over $2.5 million was raised at this year’s dinner, ensuring that the museum will continue to influence future generations. Mitchell Feiger, Pamela L. Netzky and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation were among those who received awards for their dedication to the museum and its cause. -Nicole Karacic
