For Alysa Teichman, only a West Highland white terrier would do. Say hello to Sir Paul McCartney.

WHEN DALLAS NATIVE Alysa Teichman was planning her move home from New York last year, she wanted a furry friend to help ease the transition. She had grown up with West Highland white terriers and fondly remembers her family’s first Westie, Chou Chou. So when she found a Westie breeder in Missouri who was about to have a litter become available, Teichman quickly laid claim to one of the pups. “The litter of boys was called John, Paul, George and Ringo,” she says. “I love the Beatles, so I knew it was meant to be.” Teichman got Sir Paul McCartney, aka Mac, the day she moved into her new Knox-Henderson apartment, and the two have been inseparable ever since. You’ll often find Mac perched in Teichman’s lap in her office, where she works as vice president of business development for Ylang 23, the upscale jewelry boutique her parents founded more than 30 years ago. When he’s not at the office or the store, Mac enjoys hiking at Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve, mingling at Mutts Canine Cantina, visiting Teichman’s parents at their Preston Hollow home and getting groomed by J.D. Howard at Hollywood Feed. To keep admirers updated on his busy schedule, Mac’s exploits are chronicled on his Instagram account (@sirpaulmacthepup), where he has more than 1,500 followers. Even though his humans are in the jewelry business, when it comes to style, the pup is pretty laid-back, sticking to basics such as a houndstooth collar for daily wear and a small selection of fitted sweaters for winter.
