For Niña, Hank and Miss B, the only thing better than shopping at their favorite boutique (Lucky Dog Barkery), eating their favorite food (Nulo) or being spoiled with their favorite treat (ice water in bed) is hanging out with each other. Hank, a 5-year-old golden retriever mix, and Miss B, an 8-year-old mi-ki (a maltese-papillon-Japanese chin mix) live with jewelry designer Madison McKinley and her tennis pro husband, John Isner, in their Shelby Wagner-designed home in Highland Park. Niña, an 11-year-old schnoodle, lives five minutes away with McKinley’s mom. Though the best friends maintain separate addresses, they get together as often as possible. Whether they’re going on a walk, taking a ride in the car or simply lounging on their plush Harry Barker bed, the trio make every day fun. Miss B especially loves an adventure, tagging along to Isner’s U.S. tournaments. “Any time we get Miss B’s travel bag out, she freaks out,” McKinley says. Recently, though, there was a big life change for the McKinley-Isner clan. A baby girl arrived in September. It remains to be seen how well the dogs will adapt, but we’re betting they’ll welcome the new addition with open hearts—and paws. Editor’s note: As we went to press, we learned that Hank passed away due to unexpected health complications. Our thoughts are with the McKinley-Isner family.
