Dallas native Gray Malin has us dreaming of summer with the release of his first tome, Beaches.

WAVE RUNNER
Gray Malin’s aerial shots of beaches around the world have become his first book, "Beaches," a collection of his photography.

Photographer Gray Malin reaches new heights with the release of his first tome, Beaches ($40, Abrams). Leaning out of a doorless helicopter, camera in hand, Dallas-born photographer and lifestyle curator Malin flies over Capri, Italy; Bondi Beach, New South Wales, Australia; Rio de Janiero; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Cape Town, South Africa, snapping away. From above, sandy beaches and pools act as a canvas and the people as a pattern, creating a series of colorful photos that capture summer—happy, vibrant and blissful. The series, dubbed A La Plage, has been released as the adventurer’s first-ever coffee-table book. “About two years into the project, I remember thinking that it would make a wonderful book,” Malin explains. “I am so thrilled with the final outcome—it’s exactly what I originally envisioned: 20 cities, 10 countries, six continents and five years of hard work!” Malin, who has collaborated with global brands like Le Méridien and local ones such as Dallas-based Cover Swim, is debuting a special collection of Gray Malin x Swell water bottles worldwide Aug. 1 at Neiman Marcus. He’s quite literally everywhere. Forty Five Ten, 4510 McKinney Ave., 214.559.4510; St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange, 5 Highland Park Village, 214.521.3862
