Vintage Marilyn Monroe charm reigned at winter’s most glam event honoring the 2017 Women of Distinction.
THE PARTY More than 650 guests gathered to honor the 2017 Women of Distinction at the Hilton Americas for the 30th anniversary of the Diamond Winter Ball, benefiting the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation. Franelle Rogers and Margaret Alkek Williams chaired the event, which this year honored Jo Furr, Sippi Khurana, Alissa Maples, Shawntell McWilliams, Cyndy Garza Roberts, Jessica Rossman, Susan Sarofim, Kim Tutcher, Kelli Weinzierl, Vivian Wise and Judi McGee. THE SCENE The crowd mingled while bidding on unique auction items and enjoyed a performance of “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” by Marilyn Monroe look-alike Dru Peacock Wiser. Black-and-white tables with touches of pink, along with a Marilyn Monroe movie montage, kept the theme going for the banquet dinner. THE HIGHLIGHTS Auctioneer Vincent Montalbano had everyone applauding as a custom necklace made for the night by Franco Valobra and two donated Mercedes-Benz vehicles were sold over value. The crowd then danced the night away to the sound of the band Password, celebrating the record-breaking evening, which brought in $1 million! -Mellanie Perez
