The Garden of Good and Evil bloomed at Society for the Performing Arts’ annual gala, which raised more than $400,000.
THE PARTY More than 300 guests attended the Society for the Performing Arts’ annual gala, which drew its theme inspiration from the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and the Crescent City this year. Linda and Willie Chiang, Elizabeth and Tim Vail, Melanie Gray and Mark Wawro, and Sharon and Tim Taylor chaired the event, which was also supported by ConocoPhillips. THE SCENE The night started with cocktails in one portion of The Ballroom at Bayou Place, overlooking the city’s skyline. Afterward, attendees walked past a group of living human statues, through a drawn black curtain, and into a massive space full of ivy-strung chandeliers and tablescapes straight from New Orlean’s Garden District. THE HIGHLIGHTS Jackson and Company served a Creole-inspired dinner, while the Dirty Dozen Brass Band put on a second line-style show before Off The Rekord Band led a late-night jazz dance party until, ahem, midnight!
