The Puppy Tales

What’s the city’s chic set without their well-heeled pups? Here, we introduce to you the four-legged sidekicks to some of Atlanta’s finest dog-loving denizens.

ZUZU

EMMIE

CHAMP

ZUZU
Two-year-old pure-bred Pomeranian Zuzu has quite the busy schedule, what with accompanying her mom—Rhonda Hazen, owner of Buckhead-based boutique House of Hazen—to Starbucks each morning before heading into the store for a full day of playing with shoppers. But when the posh pooch isn’t on the job, you can find her “sweet and sassy” self, as Hazen describes her, sticking to her high-class roots, whether it’s dining at the hottest restaurants in the city or flying Delta Air Lines to relaxing resorts for much-need R & R with her mom. (The St. Regis in Bal Harbour, Fla., and The Cloister at Sea Island are her favorites.) “She’s an adorable ball of fluff that I immediately fell in love with,” says Hazen. Talk about a dynamic duo.

EMMIE
Between traveling to Hilton Head, S.C., to strut her stuff on the beach and first arriving in Atlanta via an airplane no less, 2-year-old miniature dachshund Emmie knows a thing or two about living the pampered pup life. But even this pure-bred pooch finds time to give back to the city’s furry community: “She helps socialize foster friends through Angels Among Us Pet Rescue,” says dog mom Catherine McGahan, owner of Rumson Gifts & Home Furnishings. But when she’s not posing at photo shoots or occupied with a play date, Emmie loves to update her Instagram fanbase (@emmiethedachshund) with the help of her sister, Rose, and snuggle up under her favorite faux-fur blanket that she absolutely can’t sleep without. And when it comes time for a walk? “We take an UPPAbaby stroller that she loves,” notes her mom. What a pampered life, indeed.

CHAMP
“Champ is happy he found us and we found him,” says Stanton Home Furnishings owner Jimmy Stanton of his and Dr. Patrick Greco’s 2-year-old Chihuahua. A petite pup whose constant mission is to hunt for food and toys around his dad’s furniture store, Champ only breaks from his mischievous demeanor for his weekly visits to Atlanta Dog Spa, or to lay by the pool outside his parents’ historic vacation home in Madison, where “Champ runs up and down the grand staircase at light speed,” says Stanton. But like any spoiled pup, Champ indulges in a taste of the luxe life, and his loyal Instagram followers (that’s @champstantongreco) can attest to that—from basking in the sun on the pristine white porch of the Honeymoon 1851 Mansion to being tucked in for a nap atop a fluffy pillow or two.
