Wildest Dreams

Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele proves that more is more with the launch of Gucci Décor.

Gucci Décor collection, $295-$22,000, bergdorfgoodman.com

Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s whimsical maximalist vision can now extend beyond your wardrobe with the launch of Gucci Décor. As with his DIY program for clothes and accessories, Michele encourages customizing the home, offering a selection of mix-and-match motifs to dress and redress your surroundings. Movable metal trays; side tables; tasseled velvet pillows; folding capitonné screens; and lacquered, wooden dining chairs in bold hues display the house’s iconic snakes, cats, roaring tigers and Staffordshire ceramic dog. Florentine-made porcelain candleholders by Richard Ginori contain Michele’s four new scents for the home—Inventum (delicate rose), Fumus (dark and intense birch), Herbosum (fresh scents of tomato leaves and aromatic plants) and Esotericum (Seville oranges with notes of jasmine, leather and salt). The romantic spirit seen on the Gucci runway extends through the decor collection with riots of florals, bees, butterflies and beetles festooning pillows, wallpapers and an upholstered vanity seat in a bright, floral Jacquard that’s anything but garden variety.
