Good Sport

The arrival of three new sporting-goods stores in Wicker Park makes it easier than ever to get fit and look good doing it.

The new Adidas Originals flagship fits right into its bustling Wicker Park block.

SHOE-IN
Exclusive footwear awaits at the new Adidas Originals Chicago—the largest Adidas Originals store in the world. “Everything about it exemplifies how we partner with creators who have shared values and an ability to push the bounds of creativity,” says Pascha Naderi-Nejad, senior brand director. Fans of the company will find special collaborations with designers like Alexander Wang and have the ability to reserve select limited-edition offerings through the Adidas Confirmed smartphone app. 1532 N. Milwaukee Ave.

GET ON BOARD
When Burton Snowboards decided to relocate its downtown flagship to Wicker Park, it was a natural fit for the Vermont company to partner with longtime Lakeview retailer W82 on a neighborhood-based store. In addition to Burton’s 2018 line of snowboards and accessories like the sleek Custom Flying V 150 board ($599), the store is among the first to offer the revolutionary Step On boot-to-binding connection system, which Burton spent five years developing for the smoothest strapless interface on the market. 1563 N. Milwaukee Ave.

PEAK COMFORT
Partnering with Chicago’s family-owned Bearse USA factory, The North Face recreated its iconic 1968 Day Pack ($275) and ’78 duffel bag (large, $300) with ballistic nylon and gunmetal-colored detailing to mark the opening of its second Chicago shop. Inside, the store’s minimalist vibes make for a no-nonsense approach to finding the right gear. Urban explorers can find camping and alpine equipment along with the durable Cryos outerwear collection, all ideal for braving the temperamental Chicago weather. 1629 N. Damen Ave.

The North Face Men’s Cryos hikers in Bitter Chocolate Brown ($400).
