Osaka brings Nikkei flair to Brickell’s dining scene.

Miami loves sushi, Peruvian and Nikkei, so the spring debut of Osaka, a restaurant that nods to all those cuisines, should go off without a hitch. The eatery comes from friends Diego Herrera and Diego de la Puente, two restaurateurs with a combined nine restaurants under their belt throughout South America. Number 10 in these parts will reflect the two Diegos’ love of seafood and Asian cooking traditions, as well as their Peruvian upbringing. The menu here seems intent on tapping into umami flavors with ceviche that blends leche de tigre sauce with wasabi and izakaya-style plates that make the most of vegetables, seafood, Kobe beef, duck and chicken. As for the venue’s look? Think modern with Japanese touches and dimly lit interiors, the kind of establishment that’s ideal for copious bites of toro and a pisco sour or two. 1300 Brickell Bay Drive, Miami,
