As modern love stories go, it’s not unusual to meet one’s partner online. But Twitter? Now that’s a new kind of meet cute. That’s exactly how Jeff Dauler, a top local DJ for Star 94.1, and Callie Riggs, a talent executive assistant at CNN, connected—when Callie sent Jeff a direct message. That first conversation lasted 48 hours, and after officially meeting at a music-industry event a few weeks later, they began a couple years of blissful courtship.

“I knew I didn’t want him to go anywhere. And then he proposed,” says Callie.

Jeff popped the question during a sunset boat cruise near the pair’s place on Lake Keowee in July 2015. After easing their way into wedding planning, the well-known couple welcomed nearly 200 guests for their big day at The Stave Room, American Spirit Works’ alluring party facility.

A Modern Trousseau silk gown with a forgiving silhouette was tailored to Callie’s unique measurements, while something blue—her moniker—was sewn inside of the dress. Jeff, who wrote his bride a sweet letter every hour of that day, wore a custom tux gifted by Callie’s father, and locked eyes with his tear-filled bride throughout her entire walk—set to the tune of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”—to the altar, where the duo recited custom vows following personalized anecdotes from friend and officiant Mitchell Anderson.

And since the facility features tons of dividing curtains, the wedding-planning gurus at TOAST Events were able to create an intimate ceremony space, then repurpose all that decor during the cocktail hour—whisking the chairs, lanterns and florals to a series of farm tables and rounds for a Southern-inspired meal (plus a few nods to Jeff’s native New York) by Bold American Events; decadent strawberry sweets from Lush Cakery; and heartfelt toasts by the likes of Jenn Hobby, Jeff’s on-air associate. Oh, and those stunning blooming branches used for the altar? They framed the newlyweds’ simple but noticeably joyous reception exit. All you need is love, indeed.
