Bridal Sign Up

Yassi Mortensen & Ayis Megiris

October 22, 2016 | Ceremony & Reception: Sand Rock Farm Bed and Breakfast

The couple hired live musicians for the ceremony and reception, and had their first dance to Julie London’s “I’m in the Mood for Love.”

In an ode to her mother’s garden, Yassi displayed garden roses as the primary bloom at the wedding.

Yassi wanted an intimate gathering of their closest family members and friends, surrounded by evergreen trees and ivy-covered walls.

The couple honored their international guest list with a custom sign filled with partygoers’ diverse honeymoon destinations.

A soft colorway of blush, champagne and ivory dominated the color palette, but Yassi and Ayis accented the muted tones with stunning splashes of navy and burgundy.

THE COUPLE On a spring break trip home from college, Ayis Megiris met Yassi Mortensen at a family gathering. Their parents were new neighbors and friends, and the two had an instant connection. Precisely five years later, on their anniversary weekend, Ayis took Yassi to her favorite beach, Del Mar in San Diego near where she grew up, and proposed. Her family, who was in on the surprise, captured the moment from a hideaway nearby. “He originally asked me to be his girlfriend on a beach in San Diego, so it felt perfect for him to ask me to be his wife on a beach as well,” says Yassi.

THE PARTY Combining contemporary styling with whimsical accents, the couple opted for an industrial-chic wedding theme. “When we imagined our wedding, we pictured a weekend full of love, laughter and light,” says Yassi. “We wanted to be surrounded by evergreen trees, ivy-covered walls and overflowing Champagne glasses.” Sand Rock Farm fulfilled every wish. They exchanged their vows under a canopy of lush trees in the forest and moved to a cement alcove for the reception. There, the scene dripped with exquisite details, like smooth stones with gold lettering that served as place cards; deep burgundy and navy accents; and a beautiful family-style meal that brought everyone together.

THE HONEYMOON Yassi and Ayis are waiting to plan a big trip later this year—but they didn’t wait to take a little time to celebrate. “We opted for a mini-moon in the Redwoods for a chance to unplug and unwind.”
