When we were married, so many people lent us kind advice about how to keep a healthy marriage. I’d like to extend the tradition by offering one piece now: Your honeymoon shouldn’t be the only extravagant vacation you and your partner-in-life take together. Celebrate your marriage every year with an “annymoon,” which can be as special as the honeymoon you took to jump-start your partnership. If you’re like us and chose to grow your family, be sure to get a babysitter for the weekend and relax together as a couple once again.

With two simple beach-attire-filled bags, my husband, Brian, and I arrived in Turks and Caicos, Providenciales—about 30 miles northwest of the Bahamas—late afternoon, ready for a barefoot-beachfront respite at a private Beach Enclave North Shore villa. Our driver pulled up to a gated entrance, where nine newly built ocean-view estate homes stood on a 10-acre beachfront surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. We soon met Vasco Borges, co-founder and CEO of Beach Enclave—a collection of luxury residential enclaves in Turks and Caicos—who got almost giddy as he told us about his adventure in finding the perfect spot for a coveted luxury destination. I could picture him and his team slicing machetes through the wild foliage among untouched land until they reached the site that captured the most sensational view of the pristine white sands and glistening waters of the Caribbean. “As I looked up and took a breath, I knew this was it,” he said of the view.

When Brian and I entered our home chic home for the weekend, high vaulted ceilings and expansive glass sliding doors led us to multiple outdoor living spaces. It was completely seamless for us to breathe in the ocean air and savor the sensational view of the sea at only a 65-foot elevation. We looked at each other and were immediately thankful Borges’ vision had come to fruition.

A private infinity-edge pool flanked lounging and dining areas, including a summer kitchen and an oversize suspended daybed. Passing the sun deck and outdoor shower, we ventured down the stairs leading to the beach. Before we could touch the sand, we were surprised to see a secluded wood deck featuring another outdoor living area, including a grill and summer kitchen, a plunge pool, an outdoor shower and a fire pit, perfectly shaded by natural vegetation.

To our delight, on the table was an array of appetizers prepared by our private chef, Jose. Beach Enclave offers guests the amenities of a luxury resort, including a butler and private chef who take special note of your preferred palate. We noshed on a Parmesan cheese cup filled with lobster and avocado, and watched the sun set. Our butler, Ann, led us back indoors for a baby beet salad with spring greens, and a grilled lobster. Dessert did not disappoint, with an indulgent chocolate lava cake.

The next morning, we took our first steps on the white sands of Turks and Caicos, which felt like sinking your feet into perfectly puffed cotton balls. We headed to the yoga terrace on the beach (a fully equipped fitness room is also on-site) for an hourlong yoga session, offered daily at 9am. Fully relaxed, we then added oomph to our om and hit the ocean.

After Ann made a quick call to the concierge, some beach loungers, snorkeling equipment and paddleboards were set up for us to start exploring with. Brian and I put on our snorkeling gear and walked into the water mere steps from our villa. It was like the ocean belonged to us.

Back to relaxation, we retreated to our sun deck for a couples’ massage. Beach Enclave customized our itinerary ahead of time, but the concierge will coordinate anything during your stay, from stocking your kitchen, transportation and dining reservations to kite surf lessons, kayak tours, private boat excursions and more.
The night before we left, we knew it would be hard to vacate the private stretch of beach and return to the reality of work and family, so we decided to step out and experience the Caribbean nightlife and fresh conch at da Conch Shack & RumBar for one last hoorah. Accustomed to kids, we still naturally woke up early—allowing us to enjoy the serenity of our private balcony once more to watch the sun rise and gaze out at arguably the most incredible turquoise waters in the world. Inspired, we planned next year’s annymoon over coffee before heading home.
