Cozying Up

No barks about it, this Laguna Beach Maltipoo is painting the town in paws-itively perfect style.

Growing up in Laguna Beach, you may have seen me on long walks along Pacific Coast Highway or lounging in my mother Debby Carman’s whimsical store, the Faux Paw Petique. I’m Cozy Coquetti, a Maltipoo who has held the key to my mom’s heart since she adopted me six years ago. I was so tiny, I fit cozily into her hands, so she called me Cozy. My life is a charmed one, as I’m the resident gallery pup in my mom’s enchanting boutique, which is filled with paintings and cartoon portraits of local pets. Yes, she’ll paint your furry friends on everything from pillows to greeting cards, and she’s even authored many children’s books. My brother, Teddy Confetti, a Biewer terrier, and I love to welcome customers. But before I start my day at the gallery, I must look my best. Hair brushing, new ponytails, and face and teeth washing keep me in pristine condition. I fuel up with shredded black forest ham or broiled steak trimmings with Parmesan cheese before we head to the beach for some fresh air. (I always hope to find a stray flip-flop, my favorite chew toy on our outings.) My responsibilities also extend beyond gallery life. Every two weeks, my private groomer stops by to primp me for my monthly appearances at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel’s Yappy Hour program. Raising money for Canine Companions for Independence, a program that provides service dogs for disabled war veterans, is near and dear to my heart. After all, it’s always best to paw-ty for a cause.
