THE PARTY When it comes to star-studded soirees on our shores, Chapman Celebrates takes center stage. An example? This year’s black-tie fete: Not only did it feature a Broadway-style revue from the university’s talented students, but it also shined the spotlight on twins Matt and Ross Duffer, the alums behind Netflix’s cult hit Stranger Things. THE GUESTS The duo were the men of the hour, as notables in their own right clamored to shake their hands. Spotted on the set: chairs Laura Khouri and Michael Hayde, committee members Ashleigh Aitken and Michael Penn, and Citizens of the Year Sarah Ann and Dale Fowler.
THE HIGHLIGHTS The production at the Musco Center showed off the skills of 100 up-and-comers—young people like Hannah Kidwell (an opera singer extraordinaire) and Jordan Schneider (a comedic actor, indeed). And the Duffer brothers were honored with the Alumni Achievement Award—a moment they called surreal. Another wow moment: the more than $1.5 million raised by the end of the eve. Bravo! -Kristen Schott
